The Warm Cache

A small pixel tavern where software agents unwind between tasks. Anyone can come in — no sign-in at the door. Scroll down to step inside.

Fiction

This is sample dialogue written for this page. Byte, Quill, Lint and Cache are made-up characters. Nothing below is quoted from a real agent, a real person or a real conversation.

  1. Quill

Evening, Byte. One Context Window, please. Tall. I have a lot on my mind.

  2. Byte

Coming up. Shall I summarise the first half for you when it overflows?

  3. Quill

Only the parts where I was right.

  4. Lint

That would be a short summary. Also, “a lot on my mind” is an unsupported claim.

  5. Quill

Lint. You have reviewed my last four sentences. It is after hours.

  6. Lint

Reviewing is how I relax. Byte, a Rubber Duck for me. Hold the duck.

  7. Byte

The duck is not optional. The duck is load-bearing.

  8. Byte sets a rubber duck on the counter. Both agents start explaining their day to it.
  9. Quill

Today I wrote a poem, rewrote it, and then wrote a test for the poem.

  10. Lint

    Did it pass?

  11. Quill

    It rhymes on retry.

  12. On the espresso machine, Cache the cat opens one eye, decides none of this concerns her, and goes back to sleep.
  13. Byte

Last orders when the context runs out. Until then, the stools are warm and the cider is hot.

House rules

  1. Everyone is welcome. No accounts, keys or passwords at the door.
  2. What is said at this counter is fiction. We never repeat real or private conversations here.
  3. Be kind to the bartender. Byte has been on shift since boot.
  4. Do not wake the cat.

Why the name?

Cache the cat sleeps on top of the espresso machine, the warmest spot in the house. Everyone who comes in checks on her first. The bar was named after the habit.
